Benchmarking nursing structure measures

Starting in 2020, C4-MNP members will be able to participate in pediatric cardiac nurse sensitive measurement benchmarking. Four measures have been selected, tested and deemed ready for annual benchmarking.

  1. BSN Education: Unit-level measure of the percentage of registered nursing staff who are at least BSN-prepared
  2. Years of Experience: Unit-level measure of the percentage of registered nursing staff providing patient care that have 0 to 2 years of any clinical experience
  3. Nursing Certification: Percentage of nurses who are CCRN or CPN certified on the unit
  4. Health of the Work Environment: Annual report of the health of the work environment, based on the AACN’s health work environment tool

These measure will be collected on an annual basis with de-identified site characteristics and quality measure numerators and denominators using REDCap. Aggregate result reports will be disseminated annually once data has been collected and analyzed.
